Two members of MBK, Assistant Professor Katherine M. Pappas (MBK Secretary) and post-graduate student Panagiotis Glekas, were appointed after deliberate evaluation by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) as ASM Country and Young Country Ambassador, respectively. The positions have a three- and one-year duration correspondingly, and are amenable to extension pending a formal review. The Young Ambassador position was claimed for the first time in Greece! MBK is proud to host ASM ambassadors as members; previous ASM Ambassador of Greece was former MBK President Prof. K. Kormas. The main country ambassadorship choice is based on ‘remarkable academic experience, demonstrated leadership and commitment to the ASM mission’.
